Being the Church
Romans 12:1-8 & 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
Being the church (God’s called out people) is always important for us to understand and live out. During the coming time of transition, it will be even more essential as you discern together Parkway’s future. In the next five weeks we will explore these important marks of the church: forgiving, encouraging, serving, giving and thanking.
We Are One Body
In Christ (Rom. 12:5, 1 Cor. 12:12 & 27)
Christ is the head (Col. 1:18)
Through the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13)
Not divided or divisive (1 Cor. 12:25)
We Are Made Up of Many Parts
We have interrelated gifts and functions (Rom. 12:4, 1 Cor. 12:14)
God chooses our part of the body (1 Cor. 12:18, Spirit – 12:11)
All belong – can’t claim I don’t fit in (1 Cor. 12:15-17)
All needed – can’t reject others (1 Cor. 12:19-21)
We Care for One Another
It’s all from mercy and grace (Rom. 12:1, 3)
We relate humbly to one another (Rom. 12:3, 1 Cor. 12:22-27)
The suffering of one is connected to all of us (1 Cor. 12:26)
The honor of one causes all to rejoice (1 Cor. 12:26)
