God’s Glory in Our Work and Rest
Deuteronomy 5:12-15 & Exodus 20:1-2, 8-11
God’s glory is the shining forth of His inward characteristics and His very being. What we perceive of God, we call glory. Last week we focused on how God is glorious in His work of creation and salvation and also in His rest. Today’s message (Labor Day weekend) we explore God’s glory in our work and rest.
God Enables Us through His Preceding Work and Rest
Fully sovereign in power and purpose
Supplying abundant grace
God Created Us to Work
Commanded for our good
Manifold purpose
Eternal significance (Colossians 3:17)
God Made Us with the Need for Rest
Physically re-energize
Mentally re-focus
Spiritually renew
Demonstrate care and justice
Found in Jesus (Matthew 11:28-30)
