Joyfully Loving in Truth
2 John
We have the advantage today of reading an entire letter to see its context and connections. In the Apostle John’s letters and in his gospel we find the recurring themes of love, truth and joy. Even more, we are drawn to their inseparable and beautiful connection to one another. John’s message is both simple and profound.
Love
Jesus gave this command (John 15:12)
Our deepest need is fulfilled
Greatest evidence and witness to the truth of the gospel
Truth
Walking according to God’s commandments is love
Sound doctrine of Christ is foundational and essential
Abiding in truth is internal and ongoing
Joy
True joy arises from truth
Joy is found in seeing others walking in the truth
Joy is completed through relationship (love)
