Spiritual Armor: Truth and Righteousness
Ephesians 6:10-20 (focus on vs 14)
This passage is about “spiritual warfare” and our need to be equipped so that we can effectively engage the spiritual forces of evil. We can’t do it on our own, so God graciously and strategically gives us spiritual armor so we can be strong in the Lord, stand against the schemes of the devil and stand firm.

The devil, the father of lies, wants to distort truth.

Where Do We Find Truth?
Options: Our feelings – subjective and selfish
(Jeremiah 17:9)
Human knowledge – limited and changing
(Proverbs 3:5-7)
God – Creator, perfect, good, sovereign
(John 14:6, 17:15-17)
Why do We Need the Breastplate of Righteousness?
The devil wants to inflate or deflate our sense of righteousness.
(Genesis 3:1-6)
We need protection for our heart.
(Proverbs 4:23)
Whose Righteousness Is It?
We are not righteous before the holy God.
(Romans 3:10 quotation from Psalm 143:2)
Christ’s righteousness is given to us through faith.
(Philippians 3:8-10)
