10-15-17 Faith and the Glory of God

Faith and the Glory of God

John 11:1-16

We remember that John wrote his gospel, “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31) Last week we saw that believing in Jesus means we trust in the integrity of all His bold claims and the evidence of His gracious power and works. Today we look at the connection Jesus clearly makes between our faith and the glory of God.

It’s All about the Glory of God

Glory = worth, in inner attributes and outer expression

Why we were created (Isaiah 43:6-7)

Why we were redeemed (Psalm 79:9)

Living in the new life (Romans 6:4)

The end of all things (Habakkuk 2:14)

The Glory of God Is Seen in:

Delayed action (vs 6)

Dealing with adversity (vs 7-10)

Life over death (vs 11-14)

So that You May Believe in the Glory of God in:

The Father raising the dead (vs 4)

The Son through whom the dead are raised (vs 4)

Having the light (of life) in us (vs 9-10 & 8:12)

Identifying with Thomas (vs 16)

Utter devotion to Jesus

Resolute courage in the face of danger

Real action despite the outcome

Temporary lack of hope for a good outcome
